Abstract
----- A wound is a condition in which the skin tissue is disrupted, causing impairment of its protective function for the body. To support the repair process, protein intake is needed, such as from snakehead fish (Channa striata), which is rich in albumin. This study aimed to determine the wound-healing activity of freeze-dried aqueous extract of snakehead fish in gel form on male mice (Mus musculus) and to find the most optimal concentration. The experiment consisted of five groups: normal control (no treatment), negative control (Na-CMC gel base), positive control (Bioskin Gel®), test group 1 (4% gel of freeze-dried aqueous extract of snakehead fish), and test group 2 (8% gel of freeze-dried aqueous extract of snakehead fish). Parameters observed included wound diameter and histopathological features. Data were analyzed using One-Way ANOVA and Bonferroni post hoc test. The 4% gel group had the smallest mean wound diameter (2.88 ± 0.65 mm) and the highest healing percentage (42.33 ± 13.05%), showing a significant difference (p < 0.05). Histopathological results showed better angiogenesis in the 4% gel group, while the 8% gel group exhibited more complete epithelialization. Therefore, the 8% concentration was considered the most optimal for promoting full tissue regeneration.
