Abstract
----- Medicines play a crucial role in hospital health services since their availability directly affects the success of patient therapy. Ineffective drug control and storage may lead to serious problems such as stockouts, overstocking, expiration, and even financial losses. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of drug control and storage at a regional public hospital (RSUD) in Bandung. The study employed a descriptive method with a retrospective approach using secondary data from the hospital pharmacy department. The results showed that the average drug availability was 5.46 months, below the standard of 12–18 months. The percentage of stockout items was 4%, understocked items 55%, safe stock 9%, overstocked items 26%, expired drugs 0.34%, non-prescribed drugs over three months 34%, and the average stockout duration was 25 days. In terms of storage, most aspects met the standards, including classification based on dosage forms and temperature, application of the FEFO principle, and narcotics storage which achieved 100% compliance. However, compliance for High-alert and LASA drug storage was only 85%, below the required 100% standard. These findings indicate that drug control and storage in the hospital still face challenges, requiring improvements in planning, strengthening of stock information systems, and consistent application of storage standards to ensure drug availability and quality.
