Abstract
Kulit batang, daun dan biji Faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br) merupakan tanaman khas NTT, yang mengandung senyawa fenol dan flavonoid yang berkontribusi pada aktivitas antioksidan tanaman ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak etanol 70%, fraksi n-heksana, fraksi etil asetat dan fraksi air dari kulit batang, daun dan biji tanaman faloak yang dapat ditentukan dengan metode peredaman radikal bebas DPPH (1,1-Diphenl-2-pikrilhidrazil) menggunakan spektrofotometri uv-vis. Kulit batang, daun dan biji faloak dimaserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 70%. Identifikasi golongan senyawa dilakukan dengan penapisan fitokimia ekstrak. Fraksinasi dilakukan dengan metode ekstraksi cair-cair dengan tingkat kepolaran yang berbeda. Antioksidan akan bekerja meghambat radikal bebas dengan cara mendonorkan atom hidrogen yang dimilikinya. Seiring dengan prinsip umum, semakin kecil nilai IC50 suatu senyawa, semakin kuat aktivitas antioksidannya. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa skrining fitokimia pada ekstrak kulit batang, daun dan biji falaok positif mengandung senyawa (flavanoid, fenol dan saponin). Secara keseluruhan baik ekstrak maupun fraksi dari kulit batang, daun dan biji faloak, yang menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan paling potensial pada biji faloak yaitu 249,51 µg/mL dibandingkan vitamin C 11,92 µg/mL. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan pada kategori sangat lemah. ------ The bark, leaves, and seeds of Faloak (Sterculia quadrifida R.Br) are typical plants of NTT, which contain phenol and flavonoid compounds that contribute to the antioxidant activity of this plant. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of 70% ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction of the bark, leaves, and seeds of the faloak plant which can be determined by the DPPH (1,1-Diphenl-2-picrylhydrazyl) free radical scavenging method using UV-Vis spectrophotometry. The bark, leaves, and seeds of faloak were macerated using 70% ethanol solvent. Identification of compound groups was carried out by phytochemical screening of the extract. Fractionation was carried out using the liquid-liquid extraction method with different levels of polarity. Antioxidants will work to inhibit free radicals by donating their hydrogen atoms. In line with the general principle, the smaller the IC50 value of a compound, the stronger its antioxidant activity. The results of the study showed that phytochemical screening of the extracts of the bark, leaves, and seeds of faloak were positive for compounds (flavanoids, phenols, and saponins). Overall, both the extracts and fractions of the bark, leaves, and seeds of faloak showed the most potent antioxidant activity in faloak seeds, namely 249.51 µg/mL compared to vitamin C at 11.92 µg/mL. The results of this study indicate that antioxidant activity is in the very weak category.
