Abstract

Paparan sinar matahari berlebihan dapat menyebabkan efek negatif seperti kulit terbakar surya. Daun sukun (Artocorpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang mengandung flavonoid yang dapat berfungsi sebagai tabir surya. Selain itu bunga rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) juga kaya akan antosianin yang memiliki efek antioksidan dalam melindungi kulit dari radikal bebas yang diinduksi oleh sinar UV. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan aktivitas gel tabir surya dari ekstrak daun sukun, bunga rosella dan kombinasinya. Penentuan nilai Sun Protection Factor (SPF) dilakukan menggunakan spektrofotometri berdasarkan pengukuran absorbansi pada panjang gelombang 290-320 nm. Ekstrak daun sukun dan bunga rosella beserta kombinasinya dibuat menjadi sediaan gel tabir surya dengan variasi perbandingan konsentrasi ekstrak F1 (1:1), F2 (1:2), F3 (2:1), F4 (ekstrak daun sukun tunggal) dan F5 (ekstrak bunga rosella tunggal). Sediaan gel tabir surya diuji evaluasi fisik yang meliputi organoleptis, pH, viskositas, homogenitas, daya lekat, dan daya sebar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, kombinasi ekstrak sukun dan rosella (1:2) memberikan nilai SPF sebesar 26,565 dengan kategori proteksi ultra dan sediaan gel tabir surya pada F2 memberikan nilai SPf sebesar 16,708 dengan kategori proteksi ultra. Sediaan gel tabir surya pada F2 terjadi kenaikan pH menjadi basa setelah penyimpanan 28 hari. Gel yang memenuhi seluruh pengujian evaluasi fisik adalah F1, F3, F4 dan F5. ------ Excessive sun exposure can cause negative effects such as sunburn. Breadfruit leaves (Artocorpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) are one of the plants that contain flavonoids that can function as sunscreen. In addition, roselle flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) are also rich in anthocyanins that have antioxidant effects in protecting the skin from free radicals induced by UV rays. This study aims to determine the sunscreen gel activity of extracts from breadfruit leaves, roselle flowers, and their combination. The determination of the Sun Protection Factor (SPF) value was carried out using spectrophotometry based on the measurement of absorbance at wavelengths of 290-320 nm. Extracts from breadfruit leaves and roselle flowers along with their combinations were formulated into sunscreen gel preparations with varying concentrations F1 (1:1), F2 (1:2), F3 (2:1), F4 (single breadfruit leaf extract) and F5 (single roselle flower extract). The sunscreen gel preparation was tested for physical evaluation, which included organoleptic properties, pH, viscosity, homogeneity, adhesion, and spreadability. Based on the research results, the combination of jackfruit and rosella extracts (1:2) produced an SPF value of 26.565 with an ultra protection category, while the sunscreen gel preparation in F2 had an SPF value of 16.708 with an ultra protection category. The pH of the sunscreen gel preparation in F2 increased to alkaline after 28 days of storage. The gels that met all physical evaluation tests were F1, F3, F4, and F5.
