Abstract

Bau badan dapat mengganggu aktivitas sehari-hari sehingga membuat ketidaknyaman pada tubuh, maka dari itu dibuat deodoran isolat katekin untuk mengurangi bau ketiak yang disebabkan oleh bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui daya hambat isolat katekin terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 1228 serta mengetahui formulasi dan aktivitas antibakteri sediaan deodoran isolat katekin. Formulasi dilakukan menggunakan 2 formula dengan 2 konsentrasi trietanolamin serta penggunaan etanol 96% yang berbeda, pada F1 konsentrasi trietanolamin sebesar 0,06% dan menggunakan etanol 96% sedangkan F2 konsentrasi trietanolamin sebesar 0,09% dan tanpa menggunakan etanol 96%. Evaluasi sediaan meliputi organoleptis, homogenitas, pH, viskositas dan daya sebar. Hasil penelitian diperoleh aktivitas antibakteri isolat katekin sebesar 1,5% dengan diameter hambat sebesar 3,95 mm yang termasuk kategori lemah. Isolat katekin dapat diformulasikan ke dalam sediaan deodoran roll on dimana setelah penyimpanan 28 hari hasil evaluasi meliputi organoleptik, homogenitas, pH, viskositas, dan daya sebar telah memenuhi persyaratan. Aktivitas antibakteri sediaan deodoran pada hari ke-1 termasuk ke dalam kategori sedang, namun terjadi penurunan pada hari ke-28 menjadi kategori lemah. --- Body odor can interfere with daily activities so as to cause discomfort to the body, therefore a catechin isolate deodorant is made to reduce underarm odor caused by the Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 12228 bacteria. This study aims to determine the inhibitory power of catechin isolates against Staphylococcus epidermidis ATCC 1228 bacteria and determine the formulation and antibacterial activity of catechin isolate deodorant preparations. The formulation was carried out using 2 formulas with 2 different concentrations of triethanolamine and the use of 96% ethanol, in F1 the concentration of triethanolamine was 0.06% and using 96% ethanol while in F2 the concentration of triethanolamine was 0.09% and without using 96% ethanol. Preparation evaluation includes organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity and spreadability. The results showed that the antibacterial activity of catechin isolates was 1.5% with an inhibitory diameter of 3.95 mm which was included in the weak category. Catechin isolates can be formulated into roll-on deodorant preparations where after 28 days of storage the evaluation results including organoleptic, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, and spreadability have met the requirements. The antibacterial activity of deodorant preparations on day 1 was included in the moderate category, but decreased on day 28 to the weak category.
