Abstract
Daun sukun (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) dan bunga rosella (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) diketahui memiliki senyawa aktif yang berpotensi sebagai antihiperkolesterolemia. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menguji aktivitas antikolesterol kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan bunga rosella. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kombinasi ekstrak yang memiliki potensi antihiperkolesterolemia, perbedaan aktivitas pada kelompok ekstrak tunggal dan kombinasi serta efektivitas optimal pada kombinasi ekstrak. Dalam penelitian ini, tikus diberi Pakan Diet Tinggi Lemak (PDTL) untuk menginduksi hiperkolesterolemia dan dilakukan pengukuran kadar kolesterol dengan menggunakan alat Easy Touch®GCU. Uji dilakukan pada tujuh kelompok tikus dengan berbagai perlakuan, diantaranya kontrol normal (tanpa perlakuan), kontrol hiperkolesterolemia, kontrol pembanding (Simvastatin), kelompok ekstrak daun sukun, kelompok ekstrak bunga rosella, kelompok kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan bunga rosella perbandingan 1:2 (A) dan kelompok kombinasi ekstrak daun sukun dan bunga rosella perbandingan 2:1 (B). Potensi aktivitas antihiperkolesterolemia ekstrak daun sukun lebih baik dibandingkan ekstrak bunga rosella dan kedua kombinasi ekstrak. Kombinasi ekstrak A diketahui memiliki efek antagonis dan kombinasi ekstrak B memiliki efek indifferent sehingga tidak lebih baik dalam penurunan aktivitas antihiperkolesterolemia dibandingkan ekstrak tunggal daun sukun. ---- Breadfruit leaves (Artocarpus altilis (Parkinson) Fosberg) and rosella flowers (Hibiscus sabdariffa L.) are known to have active compounds that have potential as antihypercholesterolemia. Therefore, this study was conducted to test the anticholesterol activity of a combination of breadfruit leaf extract and rosella flower. This study aims to determine the combination of extracts that have antihypercholesterolemia potential, differences in activity in single and combined extract groups and optimal effectiveness in the combination of extracts. In this study, rats were fed a high-fat diet (PDTL) to induce hypercholesterolemia and cholesterol levels were measured using the Easy Touch®GCU device. The test was conducted on seven groups of rats with various treatments, including normal control (no treatment), hypercholesterolemia control, comparison control (Simvastatin), breadfruit leaf extract group, rosella flower extract group, breadfruit leaf extract and rosella flower extract combination group 1:2 ratio (A) and breadfruit leaf extract and rosella flower extract combination group 2:1 ratio (B). The potential antihypercholesterolemia activity of breadfruit leaf extract is better than rosella flower extract and both extract combinations. The combination of extract A is known to have an antagonistic effect and the combination of extract B has an indifferent effect so that it is not better in reducing antihypercholesterolemia activity than the single breadfruit leaf extract.
