Abstract

Glaukoma merupakan suatu kelainan pada mata yang ditandai dengan meningkatnya tekanan intraokular (TIO) yang dapat menekan saraf mata sehingga menyebabkan kerusakan pada saraf mata dan pengecilan lapang pandang yang jika dibiarkan dapat menyebabkan kebutaan. Obat-obat antiglaukoma memiliki mekanisme kerja dapat menurunkan tekanan intraokular. Buah delima (Punica granatum L.) dan lidah buaya (Aloe vera (L) Burm.f.) merupakan salah satu tanaman yang memiliki banyak khasiat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antiglaukoma dari kombinasi esktrak buah delima dan lidah buaya pada model tikus glaukoma dengan dosis yang digunakan masing-masing 500 mg/kg BB per oral. Penelitian ini menggunakan 6 kelompok uji yang terdiri dari kontrol normal, negatif, positif, kelompok ekstrak lidah buaya 500 mg/kg BB, kelompok ekstrak buah delima 500 mg/kg BB dan kombinasi esktrak buah delima dan lidah buaya (1:1). Sebagai penginduksi glaukoma digunakan tetes mata prednisolon asetat 1% sebanyak 12 tetes selama 1 jam dan sebagai kontrol positif digunakan asetazolamid tablet. Hasil penelitian menunjukan penggunaan esktrak buah delima tunggal mampu menurunkan tekanan intraokular sebesar 28,2%, ekstrak lidah buaya tunggal sebesar 29,86% dan kombinasi keduanya mampu menurunkan tekanan intraokular tikus glaukoma sebesar 33,56%, namun hasil tersebut belum mampu menyamai persentase penurunan tekanan intraokular yang dihasilkan oleh kontrol positif yaitu 51,46%. --- Glaucoma is an eye disorder characterized by increased intraocular pressure (IOP) which can press on the nerves of the eye, causing damage to the eye nerves and reduced visual field which, if left untreated, can cause blindness. Antiglaucoma drugs have a mechanism of action to reduce intraocular pressure. Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.) and aloe vera (Aloe vera (L) Burm.f.) are plant that has a lot of benefits. This study aims to determine the antiglaucoma effect of a combination of pomegranate extract and aloe vera in a glaucoma mouse model with doses used each of 500 mg/kg BW orally. This study used 6 test groups consisting of normal, negative, positive controls, aloe vera extract group 500 mg/kg BW, pomegranate extract group 500 mg/kg BW and a combination of pomegranate extract and aloe vera (1:1). As a glaucoma inducer, 12 drops of 1% prednisolone acetate were used for 1 hour and as a positive control acetazolamide tablets were used. The results showed that the use of a single pomegranate extract was able to reduce intraocular pressure by 28.2%, single aloe vera extract by 29.86% and the combination of the two was able to reduce the intraocular pressure of glaucoma rats by 33.56%, but these results have not been able to match the percentage decrease in intraocular pressure produced by the positive control, namely 51.46%.
