Abstract

Ricinus comunnis atau dikenal dengan nama Jarak kepyar merupakan tanaman yang tumbuh baik di Indonesia. Tanaman jarak (Euphorbiaceae) merupakan tanaman yang digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai antiinflamasi, analgetik, antidiare, dan sebagai larvacidal. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilaporkan, tanaman ini memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang potensial pada bakteri Gram negatif seperti Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae dengan nilai KHM < 100 ppm terutama pada bagian daunnya. Tanaman ini juga dilaporkan memiliki aktivitas sebagai antioksidan yang paling bagian pada ekstrak etil asetat bagian daun dan batang dengan nilai IC50 < 25 ppm. Kedepannya, daun jarak dapat dikembangkan sebagai antibakteri atau antioksidan. --- Ricinus comunnis or known as Jatropha Kepyar is a plant that grows well in Indonesia. Jatropha (Euphorbiaceae) is a plant used as anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antidiarrheal, and as a larvacidal. Based on the research reported, this plant has potential as an antibacterial activity on Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumoniae with MIC values <100 ppm, especially on the leaves. This plant was also reported to have the best antioxidant activity in the ethyl acetate extract of the leaves and stems with an IC50 value of <25 ppm. In the future, castor leaves can be developed as an antibacterial or antioxidant.
