Abstract

------- Self-medication is a common practice for managing minor health complaints. Its implementation requires adequate knowledge to ensure the safe and appropriate use of medicines. This study aimed to describe the level of self-medication knowledge based on the DAGUSIBU principles and the behavior of Generation Z who have their main activities in Bandung City in using over-the-counter medicines. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method with a crosssectional approach. Data were collected through an online questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, consisting of 19 knowledge questions and 9 behavioral statements. A total of 141 respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively using Microsoft Excel and SPSS. The results showed that the respondents’ knowledge was predominantly categorized as good (55%), followed by moderate (28%) and poor (17%). Meanwhile, 42% of respondents demonstrated positive behavior and 58% demonstrated negative behavior. These findings indicate that good knowledge was not fully reflected in positive behavior toward the use of over-the-counter medicines. Further research is recommended to use mixed methods to explore factors influencing selfmedication and a pre-test and post-test design involving a more homogeneous group of respondents.
