Abstract
-------- Coccidiosis is one of the major challenges in increasing broiler chicken production, while the use of antibiotic growth promoters (AGPs) has been banned. Therefore, natural alternatives that can effectively, safely, and sustainably replace AGPs are needed. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of feed supplementation with mangosteen peel extract residue (Garcinia mangostana L.) and curcumin (Curcuma domestica) as a natural substitute for AGPs in broiler diets. The experiment was conducted using three treatment groups: P0 (negative control, without antibiotics or extract residue), P1 (positive control, with antibiotics), and P2 (feed supplemented with 10% mangosteen peel and turmeric residues). The observed parameters included feed intake and body weight gain over a 38-day rearing period. The results showed that feed intake in the P2 treatment group was relatively lower during the starter phase, while body weight gain during the finisher phase increased significantly, with improved FCR and ADG values compared to P0. The average feed intake, ADG, and FCR for P2 were 44.59 ± 4.53 g/bird/day, 2.57 ± 1.01 g/day, and 19.54 ± 7.63, respectively. Therefore, the use of these natural by-products can be considered a sustainable alternative in broiler feed formulation.
