Abstract
Minyak atsiri dari tanaman aromatis dinilai berekonomis tinggi dan telah dimanfaatkan dalam berbagai bidang industri. Rimpang lengkuas hutan (Alpinia malaccensis (Burm.f.) Roscoe) merupakan salah satu sumber minyak atsiri yang memiliki aktivitas farmakologis. Tanaman ini tersebar di berbagai wilayah Indonesia dan faktor geografis memengaruhi kualitas serta komponen minyak atsiri yang dihasilkan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji karakteristik dan aktivitas antioksidan minyak atsiri rimpang lengkuas hutan yang ditanam di tiga wilayah berbeda di Indonesia. Karakterisasi simplisia dilakukan berdasarkan parameter spesifik (organoleptis, kadar sari larut air dan etanol, serta skrining fitokimia) dan non-spesifik (susut pengeringan, kadar abu total, dan kadar air). Minyak atsiri diekstraksi dengan metode destilasi uap-air dan dilakukan karakterisasi sifat fisik sebagai pengujian mutu. Aktivitas antioksidan dianalisis dengan metode DPPH menggunakan microplate reader. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sampel Jawa Barat dan Jawa Timur memenuhi persyaratan Farmakope Herbal Indonesia pada parameter kadar sari larut air dan etanol dan kadar abu total, sedangkan sampel Jawa Tengah memenuhi persyaratan pada parameter kadar sari larut etanol dan susut pengeringan. Hasil karakterisasi mutu minyak atsiri dilakukan pendekatan pada acuan SNI-06-1312-1998 dan analisis statistik aktivitas antioksidan menunjukkan antar wilayah bersifat berbeda signifikan (Sig.<0,05) dengan nilai IC50 terendah ditunjukkan oleh sampel Jawa Tengah sebesar 1.899,36 ppm. ------- Essential oils from aromatic plants are considered to be highly economical and have been used in various industrial fields. Forest galangal rhizome (Alpinia malaccensis (Burm.f.) Roscoe) is a source of essential oil which has pharmacological activity. This plant is spread across various regions in Indonesia and geographical factors influence the quality and components of the essential oil produced. This study aims to examine the characteristics and antioxidant activity of forest galangal rhizome essential oil grown in three different regions in Indonesia. Simplicia characterization was carried out based on specific parameters (organoleptic, water and ethanol soluble essence content, as well as phytochemical screening) and non-specific (drying loss, total ash content and water content). Essential oils are extracted using the steam-water distillation method and their physical properties are characterized as a quality test. Antioxidant activity was analyzed using the DPPH method using a microplate reader. The research results showed that the West Java and East Java samples met the requirements of the Herbal Pharmacopoeia in the parameters of water and ethanol soluble essence content and total ash content, while the Central Java samples met the requirements in the parameters of ethanol soluble essence content and drying loss. The results of the quality characterization of essential oils were approached using the SNI-06- 1312-1998 reference and statistical analysis of antioxidant activity showed that between regions it was significant (Sig.<0.05) with the lowest IC50 value shown by the Central Java sample of 1,899.36 ppm.
