Abstract
------ Antioxidants are essential in protecting the body from damage caused by free radicals. One natural source of antioxidants is turmeric (Curcuma domestica Val.), which is known to be rich in curcuminoid compounds. During the extraction process, turmeric residue is generally discarded as waste, although it still has the potential to contain bioactive compounds. This study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity of turmeric extract residue using the Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP) method. Residue samples were obtained from Sekolah Tinggi Farmasi Indonesia and tested for their secondary metabolite content. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, alkaloids, and triterpenoids. Antioxidant activity was determined using the FRAP reagent at a wavelength of 594 nm. The results showed that the FRAP value of turmeric extract residue was 37.230 µmol Fe²⁺/g, while vitamin C as a positive control was 30.470 µmol Fe²⁺/g. The IC₅₀ values of turmeric extract residue and vitamin C were both classified as very strong (<50). Therefore, turmeric extract residue has the potential to be developed as a natural antioxidant source and provides added value for sustainable utilization.
