Abstract
Gastritis merupakan peradangan pada mukosa lambung yang dapat dipicu oleh berbagai faktor, salah satunya konsumsi etanol. Minyak kunyit (Curcuma longa L.) diketahui memiliki aktivitas antiinflamasi dan antioksidan yang berpotensi memberikan efek gastroprotektif. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek dan dosis optimal minyak kunyit dalam melindungi mukosa lambung tikus Wistar jantan yang diinduksi etanol. Penelitian menggunakan enam kelompok tikus: kontrol normal, kontrol negatif (etanol), kontrol positif (sukralfat 180mg/kgbb), serta tiga kelompok perlakuan dengan minyak kunyit dosis 100, 500, dan 1000 mg/kgbb. Parameter yang diamati meliputi pH lambung, jumlah dan keparahan tukak, indeks tukak, persentase kesembuhan, serta evaluasi histopatologi. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa minyak kunyit dosis 1000 mg/kgbb memberikan efek protektif terbaik dengan penurunan indeks tukak sebesar 6 dan persentase kesembuhan mencapai 73,33%. Histopatologi memperlihatkan perbaikan struktur mukosa yang signifikan pada dosis tersebut. Dengan demikian, minyak kunyit memiliki potensi sebagai agen gastroprotektif alami terhadap kerusakan lambung akibat etanol. ------ Gastritis is an inflammation of the gastric mucosa that can be triggered by various factors, including ethanol consumption. Turmeric oil (Curcuma longa L.) is known to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties with potential gastroprotective effects. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness and optimal dose of turmeric oil in protecting the gastric mucosa of male Wistar rats induced with ethanol. The experiment consisted of six groups: normal control, negative control (ethanol), positive control (sucralfate 180 mg/kg bw), and three treatment groups receiving turmeric oil at doses of 100, 500, and 1000 mg/kg bw. Parameters observed included gastric pH, ulcer number and severity, ulcer index, healing percentage, and histopathological evaluation. Results showed that the 1000 mg/kg bw dose of turmeric oil exhibited the most significant gastroprotective effect, with an ulcer index of 6 and a healing percentage of 73.33%. Histopathological analysis revealed notable improvement in mucosal integrity at this dose. These findings suggest that turmeric oil has promising potential as a natural gastroprotective agent against ethanol-induced gastric damage.
