Abstract

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) mengandung senyawa flavonoid yang diketahui memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan sediaan lip balm berbasis ekstrak quinoa serta mengetahui aktivitas antioksidannya. Ekstrak diperoleh melalui metode maserasi dan dilakukan identifikasi kandungan metabolit sekundernya melalui penapisan fitokimia. Optimasi formula lip balm dilakukan menggunakan metode Simplex lattice design (SLD) dengan variasi konsentrasi cera alba dan setil alkohol sebagai stiffening agent. Evaluasi formula meliputi uji organoleptis, pH, daya lekat, homogenitas, Melting Point, dan Breaking point. Aktivitas antioksidan diuji menggunakan metode DPPH terhadap ekstrak, sediaan lip balm, dan basis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak quinoa memiliki aktivitas antioksidan sangat kuat (IC₅₀ sebesar 20,54 ppm), lip balm menunjukkan aktivitas kuat (IC₅₀ sebesar 67,00 ppm pada hari ke-1 dan 72,77 ppm pada hari ke-28) sedangkan basis menunjukkan aktivitas lemah (IC₅₀ sebesar 172,06 ppm). Uji ANOVA terhadap parameter fisik menunjukkan nilai p > 0,05 untuk seluruh formula, yang berarti variasi komposisi cera alba dan setil alkohol tidak memberikan perbedaan signifikan. Dengan demikian, seluruh formula memiliki kestabilan fisik yang serupa dan memenuhi kriteria lip balm yang baik. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, sediaan lip balm dengan penambahan ekstrak quinoa berpotensi dikembangkan sebagai produk kosmetik alami yang memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. ----- Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) contains flavonoid compounds known to have antioxidant activity. This study aimed to develop a quinoa extract-based lip balm formulation and determine its antioxidant activity. The extract was obtained through the maceration method, and identification of secondary metabolite content was conducted through phytochemical screening. Lip balm formula optimization was performed using the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method with varying concentrations of cera alba and cetyl alcohol as stiffening agents. Formula evaluation included organoleptic tests, pH, adhesiveness, homogeneity, melting point, and breaking point assessments. Antioxidant activity was tested using the DPPH method on the extract, lip balm formulation, and base. The research results showed that quinoa extract had very strong antioxidant activity (IC₅₀ of 20.54 ppm), the lip balm showed strong activity (IC₅₀ of 67.00 ppm on day 1 and 72.77 ppm on day 28), while the base showed weak activity (IC₅₀ of 172.06 ppm). ANOVA test on physical parameters showed p > 0.05 values for all formulas, meaning that variations in cera alba and cetyl alcohol composition did not provide significant differences. Thus, all formulas had similar physical stability and met good lip balm criteria. Based on these results, lip balm formulations with quinoa extract addition have the potential to be developed as natural cosmetic products that have antioxidant activity.
