Abstract
Tanaman pecut kuda secara tradisional dimanfaatkan untuk mengurangi sakit radang tenggorokan (faringitis). Ekstrak pecut kuda telah berhasil dibuat sediaan edible film. Zat tambahan yang berfungsi sebagai hidrokoid pada edible film adalah HPMC K100M dan memiliki pengaruh terhadap proses pelepasan zat aktif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh HPMC K100M dalam formulasi edible film ekstrak daun pecut kuda (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis) terhadap aktivitas antibakteri Staphylococcus aureus. Metode yang digunakan difusi agar sampel uji yaitu sediaan edible film ekstrak pecut kuda. Golongan metabolit sekunder yang memberikan aktivitas antibakteri sediaan edible film ekstrak pecut kuda terhadap bakteri Staphylococcus aureus adalah alkaloid, polifenol, flavonoid, tanin, kuinon dan saponin yang masih terdapat dalam edible film ekstrak pecut kuda. Konsentrasi HPMC K100M pada sediaan edible film dapat menurunkan aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak pecut kuda. Penurunan aktivitas antibakteri paling kecil ditunjukan oleh edible film ekstrak pecut kuda F1 yaitu sebesar 60,67%.;---Pecut kuda plants are used traditionally to reduce sore throat (pharyngitis). Extracts of pecut kuda have been made into edible film preparations. Some of the additives used as hydrocoids in edible film are HPMC K100M and have benefits for the release of active substances. The purpose of this study was to study the effect of HPMC K100M in formulation of edible film pecut kuda leaf extract (Stachytarpheta jamaicensis) on the antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus. The method used is agar diffusion test samples, namely edible film preparations of pecut kuda extract. Secondary metabolism that provides antibacterial activity of edible edible film pecut kuda extract against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria are alkaloids, polyphenols, flavonoids, tannins, quinones and saponins which are still available in edible film extract of pecut kuda. The concentration of HPMC K100M in edible film preparations can reduce the antibacterial activity of pecut kuda extract. The smallest decrease in antibacterial activity was shown by edible film F1 pecut kuda extract which amounted to 60.67%.
