Abstract

--- In this study, essential oil extraction was carried out using the enflueration method using the composition of different adsorbents, namely butter kuning, butter putih and butter kuning putih. A total of 50 g of fresh chrysanthemum flowers were stored evenly over each adsorbent. Every three days (72 hours), the flowers were replaced with new chrysanthemums with the same weight (50 g). The treatment was repeated for 21 days. The composition of the adsorbent used was 250 g for each of yellow butter, white butter, and white butter (1:1). The resulting extract had a yield of 0,51% using yellow butter, 0,6% using white butter and 0,54% using yellow-white mixed butter. Physical evaluation of essential oils was carried out qualitatively (organoleptic, qualitative identification of essential oils, refractive index values, specific gravity, and essential oil components by GCMS). The results showed that the extract produced was essential oil of chrysanthemum flower, had a refractive index (1.342, 1.344, 1.341), specific gravity (0.98, 0.99, 0.99), and the three essential oils produced contained components of Hexadecanoic Acid, Decanoic Acid, Tetradecanoic and Oleic Acid. The enflueration method using yellow butter adsorbent produced essential oils with the best yield than using white butter and yellow-white mixed butter as an adsorbent.
