Abstract
--- Mangostin is one of the main active substances in the form of natural organic compounds isolated from the skin of the mangosteen fruit. Physical properties are properties used to describe the appearance of a substance. The purpose of this study is to obtain the physical characteristics of mangostin isolates as a necessity in the development of dosage formulas containing mangostin isolates. The tests carried out are true density, tap density, determination of solubility with PEG 400 solvent, propylene glycol, glycerin and sorbitol, particle morphology with scanning electron microscope (SEM) tool, crystallinity with X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), thermal properties with Differential Scanning Colorimeter (DSC) tool and measurement of potential zeta values with tools Zeta Potential Analyzer (ZPA). The results of the study obtained the average value of the compressibility index, which was 26.73%, the true density density value of mangostin isolates was 0.782 g/mL, rather difficult to dissolve in PEG 400, very difficult to dissolve in propylene glycol, practically insoluble in glycerin and sorbitol, % amorphous crystallinity with an average of 78.8%, melting point 159.10oC, the morphology of long beam-like particles, and the value of potential zeta with an average of -65.17mV. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the sample has a poor compressibility index value, has a true density density that is not clogged, is in the form of an amorphous solid, and has a good zeta potential value.
