Abstract
Karakterisasi fisikokimia merupakan tahapan awal dari preformulasi sebelum masuk kedalam tahap formulasi sediaan farmasi guna mendapatkan hasil obat yang efektif. Piperin merupakan isolat tanaman lada putih yang memiliki potensi untuk dijadikan formulasi sediaan farmasi karena memiliki efek farmakologi yang menjanjikan seperti antioksidan, antiinflamantori, dan antihipertensi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mendapatkan karakterisasi fisik isolat piperin dari tanaman lada putih sebagai kebutuhan dalam pengembangan formula sediaan yang mengandung isolat piperin. Analisis karakteristik fisik yang dilakukan meliputi karakterisasi kristalografi, karakterisasi morfologi dan ukuran kristal, zeta potensial, analisis sifat termal, penentuan densitas dan uji kelarutan. Hasil penelitian yang dilakukan menunjukkan bahwa isolat piperin merupakan kristal dengan jenis kristal anortik triklinik, memiliki titik leleh sebesar 124,63o C, dilihat dari nilai potensial zeta memiliki karakter partikel yang stabil dengan nilai indeks kompresibilitas cukup, nilai true density cukup, larut pada pelarut PEG 400 dan etanol 96% sehingga isolat piperin layak diformulasikan dalam berbagai sediaan farmasi. --- Physicochemical characterization is the initial stage of pre-formulation before entering the formulation stage of pharmaceutical preparations to obtain effective drug results. Piperine is a white pepper plant isolate that has the potential to be used in pharmaceutical formulations because it has promising pharmacological effects such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antihypertensive. The purpose of this study was to obtain the physical characterization of piperine isolates from white pepper plants as a necessity in developing a formulation containing piperine isolates. The analysis of physical characteristics included crystallographic characterization, morphology and crystal size characterization, zeta potential, thermal properties analysis, density determination, and solubility test. The results of the research showed that piperine isolate was a crystal with triclinic anorthic crystal type, had a melting point of 124,63o C, judging from the zeta potential value, it had a stable particle character with sufficient compressibility index value, sufficient true density value, soluble in PEG 400 solvent. and 96% ethanol so that the piperine isolate was suitable to be formulated in various pharmaceutical preparations.
