Abstract

Kulit buah kopi memiliki metabolit sekunder seperti asam klorogenat, asam kafeat, antosianin total. ------- Coffee fruit peels contain secondary metabolites such as chlorogenic acid, caffeic acid, and total anthocyanins. The levels of secondary metabolites can be influenced by growing location, environment, rainfall, and sun exposure. This study aims to analyze the phenolic content, total flavonoid, and Sun Protection Factor (SPF) values from two different regions, namely Kecamatan Ibun Kabupaten Bandung (KIKB) and Kecamatan Leles Kabupaten Garut (KLKG). The extraction method used is Soxhlet with a gradient of solvents: n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and 96% ethanol. Phenolic content is determined using the Folin-Ciocalteu method, flavonoid content with the colorimetric method, and SPF values are calculated using the Mansur equation. The results showed that the highest phenolic content, total flavonoid, and SPF values in 96% ethanol extract from KLKG were 3.544 g GAE/100 g, 10.805 g QE/100 g, and 23.175 with ultra protection type, respectively. Statistical analysis results indicated that the phenolic content, total flavonoid, and SPF values of coffee fruit peels from KIKB and KLKG were significantly different. It can be concluded that the difference in growing location can affect the secondary metabolite content such as phenolics and flavonoids. Coffee fruit peel extract from KLKG has more potential as a sunscreen compared to coffee fruit peel from KIKB.
