Abstract
Niklosamid monohidrat adalah antelmintik yang umum digunakan untuk mengatasi infeksi parasit cacing pada hewan ternak. Meskipun jarang menyebabkan kematian langsung, penyakit cacing pada hewan ternak sering menyebabkan kerugian signifikan dengan menurunkan kondisi pada hewan, mengurangi produktivitas, dan kualitas produk. Niklosamid memiliki kelarutan yang rendah sehingga sering kali membatasi penggunaannya dalam terapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan formula suspensi niklosamid yang dapat dicampurkan ke dalam air minum hewan ternak. Sediaan suspensi niklosamid dibuat dalam 9 variasi formula, yang dievaluasi untuk menentukan pengaruhnya terhadap karakteristik fisik suspensi. Berbagai uji dilakukan untuk mengevaluasi formula, termasuk uji organoleptis, uji massa jenis, uji pH, uji viskositas, uji volume sedimentasi, uji volume terpindahkan, uji redispersi, dan uji homogenitas untuk mengetahui kemampuan formula untuk terdispersi dengan baik dalam air minum hewan ternak. Berdasarkan hasil evaluasi karakteristik formula suspensi niklosamid yang paling sesuai untuk diaplikasikan ke dalam air minum hewan ternak adalah formula yang stabil, mudah terdispersi di dalam air, dan bebas dari terbentuknya cake. Oleh sebab itu formula 7 hingga formula 9 menunjukkan karakteristik yang paling baik dan memiliki potensi untuk dikembangkan lebih lanjut. ----- Niclosamide monohydrate is a commonly used anthelmintic for treating parasitic worm infections in livestock. Although it rarely causes direct mortality, worm infections in livestock often lead to significant losses by reducing the animals' condition, productivity, and product quality. Niclosamide has low solubility, which often limits its therapeutic use. This study aims to develop a niclosamide suspension formula that can be mixed into livestock drinking water. The niclosamide suspension was prepared in 9 different formulations, which were evaluated to determine their effects on the physical characteristics of the suspension. Various tests were conducted to evaluate the formulations, including organoleptic tests, density tests, pH tests, viscosity tests, sedimentation volume tests, displacement volume tests, redispersion tests, and homogeneity tests to assess the formula's ability to disperse well in livestock drinking water. Based on the evaluation of the niclosamide suspension formula, the most suitable formula for application in livestock drinking water is one that is stable, easily dispersible in water, and free from caking. Therefore, formulations 7 to 9 exhibited the best characteristics and have the potential for further development.
